Most US Subway stores run 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Sunday. Most stores close only on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Check your own store, because Subway stores are franchises and each store sets its own hours.
Typical means most US stores, not your store. Closed at most stores means most, not all, with airport, hospital and travel plaza exceptions named in the table. No exact holiday closing time is invented where franchise stores decide it themselves.
Last checked: October 30, 2026. Next update: before Thanksgiving, November 2026, and again before Christmas, December 2026. Hours change store by store, so the hours below are typical hours, not one store hours. For one holiday, use that holiday row, not the typical weekly time.
Closed at most stores means most, not all, stores. Open normal means normal hours. Open reduced means the store is open, but it may open late, close early, or both.

The Subway sandwiches menu is available all day at most stores, and late at night some stores run a limited menu. A small number of stores, near highways, airports, college campuses and 24-hour gas stations or travel plazas, stay open 24 hours.
Most stores close only on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The full US holiday table below gives date, weekday, typical status, what to expect, and exceptions. Status is typical for most stores, not a guarantee for any one store.

Most US Subway stores are closed on Christmas Day, Friday December 25, 2026, with airport, hospital and travel plaza locations as the main exceptions.
Christmas Day is one of only two days when most Subway stores close. Christmas Eve, Thursday December 24, 2026, is open with reduced hours, and many stores close early around 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Stores reopen with normal hours on Saturday December 26, 2026. If you need food on Christmas Day, check an airport, hospital or travel plaza store first, and do not assume a neighborhood store is open.
Most US Subway stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 26, 2026, with highway, airport, hospital and 24-hour locations as the main exceptions.
Thanksgiving Day is the other chain-wide closure, along with Christmas Day. Black Friday, Friday November 27, 2026, is open with normal Friday hours at most stores, except mall stores, which follow mall hours. Stock up the day before Thanksgiving, because the day itself has the fewest open stores of any US holiday except Christmas Day.
Both are open days with reduced hours, not closed days, and no single closing time fits all stores.
Christmas Eve: open, reduced, many stores close early around 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, travel-area stores stay open later, suburban stores close early. New Year Eve, Thursday December 31, 2026: open, normal or reduced, some stores close early, party-area stores may stay open later. New Year Day, Thursday January 1, 2026, and Friday January 1, 2027: open, reduced, late opening around 10:00 AM is common, and a few stores stay closed all day.
Yes, at most stores, with reduced hours on Easter and on July 4 evening in some tourist areas.
Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026: mostly open, reduced hours, mall and roadside stores more likely open, neighborhood stores often shorten hours, some franchise stores close fully. Memorial Day, May 25, 2026, and Labor Day, September 7, 2026: open, normal hours at most stores. Independence Day, Saturday July 4, 2026: open, normal or reduced hours, tourist-area stores may stay open later, small-town stores sometimes close early. Observed holiday note: July 4, 2026 is a Saturday, some offices observe Friday July 3, but Subway stores generally stay open on both days.
Hours change by store type. A mall, airport, hospital or university store does not follow the same pattern as a neighborhood store, and that split explains most of the range in the weekly table.
| Store type | Typical pattern | On holidays |
|---|---|---|
| Standalone neighborhood store | Closest to the typical weekly table. | Follows the holiday table, including Thanksgiving and Christmas closures. |
| Mall store | Follows mall hours, which may be shorter or longer than standalone hours. | Follows mall holiday hours, including Black Friday mall hours. |
| Walmart or gas station store | Follows host store hours. | May stay open later than a standalone store, or close with the host. |
| Airport, hospital or travel plaza store | Often extended hours, sometimes 24 hours. | Most likely to stay open on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. |
| University or college store | Often later closing, especially Thursday through Saturday. | May close or shorten hours during student breaks. |
| Suburban store | Standard weekly pattern, earlier closing than urban stores. | Closes early on Christmas Eve and New Year Eve more often than travel stores. |
| Urban store | Often opens at 6:00 AM for commuters and closes later. | Stays open later on July 4 and New Year Eve in tourist areas. |
No, and this is a common reason for a wasted trip late at night.
| Service | Typical availability |
|---|---|
| Dine-in and walk-in | Follows the weekly and holiday hours in the tables above. |
| Delivery, Uber Eats and DoorDash | Usually follows store hours, but delivery may end before the store closes, or run after walk-in closing at some stores. Check the delivery app for that store. |
| Drive-thru, where one exists | Most Subway stores are walk-in only. Where a drive-thru exists, its hours may not match dining room hours, so confirm before a late trip. |
| Mobile order pickup, Subway app | Follows store hours, and shows whether a store is currently open and accepting orders. |
Federal holidays and cultural days do not follow the same hours rule.
Federal holidays: New Year Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Cultural days that are not US federal Subway closures: Valentine Day, St. Patrick Day, Mardi Gras, Cinco de Mayo, Mother Day, Father Day, Halloween, Easter Monday, Boxing Day. Boxing Day, December 26, is a UK and Canada holiday, not a US federal holiday, and US stores reopen with normal Saturday hours on December 26, 2026. Good Friday, April 3, 2026, has no standard rule at Subway, so some stores close and some open as usual, call your store.
Use this order. Calling is the most reliable check on a holiday.

Because Subway is a franchise system, not a company-owned chain with one schedule.
Each franchise owner sets hours based on foot traffic, rent, staffing, host store hours, and local demand. Urban stores open earlier for commuters, sometimes at 6:00 AM. Suburban stores lean to 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM. Rural stores may start at 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM. One US store runs 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM daily, another runs 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, another runs 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM with Sunday 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The same pattern shows up in the UK, where 1,808 stores have 1,144 different weekly schedules, and the most common single schedule covers only 2.4% of stores.
Do not travel to a second store without checking it first, because holiday closures cluster.
Check an airport, hospital or travel plaza store, which are likeliest to stay open on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Check delivery in the app, because delivery availability can differ from walk-in hours. For Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, stock up the day before, because those are the two days with the fewest open stores. If you find an open store, check today's Sub of the Day and Subway coupons before you order, because holiday hours do not change deal prices. For Christmas Eve and New Year Eve, go earlier in the day, because early closing is the most common reduced-hours pattern.
Most US Subway stores run 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Sunday. These are typical hours, not a guarantee, because each franchise store sets its own hours.
No, at most stores. Most US Subway stores are closed on Christmas Day, Friday December 25, 2026. Airport, hospital and travel plaza locations are the main exceptions, so check your store before you travel.
No, at most stores. Most US Subway stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 26, 2026. Highway, airport, hospital and 24-hour locations are the main exceptions.
Yes, at most stores, with reduced hours. Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, is not a chain-wide closure like Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, but many stores shorten hours, so check your store.
Yes, at most stores, with normal or reduced hours. Memorial Day is May 25, 2026, Independence Day is July 4, 2026, and Labor Day is September 7, 2026. July 4, 2026 is a Saturday, and stores generally stay open on both the Saturday and the observed Friday.
No. Where breakfast is offered, it usually runs from store open to about 11:00 AM. Most stores serve the regular sandwich menu all day, and breakfast is offered at a minority of US locations.
Use the official Subway store locator first, then the Subway app, then Google Maps, then call the store. Calling is the most reliable check on a holiday, because holiday hours change store by store.
Last checked October 30, 2026. Next update before Thanksgiving, November 2026, and again before Christmas, December 2026.
No exact holiday closing time is given where stores decide it themselves. Reduced-hours ranges, such as Christmas Eve 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, cover many stores, not one store time. Holiday rows are updated when a store check shows a change, starting with Thanksgiving and Christmas.
